Architecture Project
    Herzogenaurach, Germany
The appearance of most corporate properties does not effectively express and enhance the personality of the corporation in question. Since corporate campuses are typically private, they generally supply no public interfaces to the surrounding community. Our winning entry for the design of Adidas’ headquarters in Germany was an attempt to counter these issues by evolving an inimitable campus that effectively communicates the unique identity of the Adidas brand.

By treating the open landscape as an ecological resource of regional significance and by using the topography as a means of supplying effective public/private interfaces, the proposed campus creates a real World of Sports—a stage—that allows athletes and spectators from different countries to convene for different sporting events.

Within the scheme, topography is the binding element establishing the common ground for disparate programmatic components - aiming for a provisionary cohesion of heterogeneous parts. The topography is used as a tool to delineate sets of frameworks that are both open and adaptable in their structures. Allowing for a multitude of grounding conditions, the project calls into question the singularity of fixed territorial parameters.
The land is reconfigured so as to create lines of movement, contingent boundaries and pathways. It rises and slopes to embrace physical structures within a choreographed landscape, hereby blurring the categorical distinction between infrastructure, architecture and the “natural“ landscape.

Occasionally, the land bifurcates to form roads, access ramps, and raised platform and at other moments, the ground rises to become architecture. The Adidas campus is thought of as a visual landscape, a composition of objects within a park environment. The core of the project is formed by an open territory comprising leisure facilities and protected green areas such as biotopes, woods and meadows.
